Synopsys' Commitment to Universities

Through our Worldwide University Programs, we aim to inspire and foster the world's next generation of technologists and innovators by providing academic and research institutions with access to the tools and technology needed to prepare well-educated students who can meet difficult challenges ranging from IC/SoC and optical design to applications for software quality and security. Synopsys software reaches thousands of students and professors across the globe every year.

Synopsys also provides opportunities for students to test their knowledge and compete with their peers in a variety of knowledge-based and design competitions around the world. Contests currently available to ECEDHA members include the following:

International Microelectronics Olympiad – is an annual knowledge-based contest highlighting the world’s brightest engineering students. Eligible participants are actively enrolled in an engineering Bachelors, Masters or PhD program, or are engineering professionals and under the age of 30. Finalists from a first-stage qualifier are funded to travel and compete with their global peers in the final event held in Yerevan, Armenia one of the largest Synopsys R&D Centers outside the US.

Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Optical Design Competition - recognizes excellence in optical design projects completed by students. Eligible students must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree program in North America and working toward a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree. Student entries must be completed using Synopsys Code V® or LightTools® software and demonstrate a working knowledge of optics, optical engineering and optical design software. Awards totaling $4,000 are granted to contest winners each year.
