2014 ECE Executive Insights

Clint Cole, Digilent

Question 5: "Learn before doing” has been the dominant approach to engineering education for many years, with a typical curriculum requiring 1-2 years of general math and science before delving into discipline-specific courses.  Can technology make engineering concepts more accessible to enable “learn by doing,” thus inspiring students and improving student retention in engineering?

Question 1: In your spotlight presentation you mentioned that in your opinion the most important job in the world is to make future engineers.  Can you elaborate on how Digilent is helping in this cause?

Question 2: You mention that Engineers are makers and we have heard that the "Maker Movement" is really gaining traction in the Educational Space.  What is Digilent's position on this community and what are you doing to either enable/counter it?
