Seeking Nominations for IEEE Representative on the ABET Board of Directors (BoD)

To IEEE Accreditation Committees, IEEE Education Society and Other Selected IEEE Members:

Dear Colleagues,

The IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) is seeking nominations for the position of IEEE Representative  on the ABET Board of Directors (BoD).   Each ABET Director may serve two three-year terms.  Current IEEE Representative Moshe Kam is completing his second three-year term this year.  The representative selected will begin a three-year term starting in October, 2014 and the term is from 2015-2017.

The IEEE EAB is seeking individuals with substantial experience in engineering, computing and technology (ECT) education in one or more of the areas in which IEEE is associated within ABET.  These areas include but are not limited to Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology.

ABET Board Members are involved in establishing and maintaining the policies and procedures of ABET and in providing oversight and strategic planning.  Ideal candidates should have experience working at a Board level either at IEEE or another organization, have excellent communication and presentation skills, and be active and alert participants in deliberations and planning activities.

Candidates must be able and willing to be engaged and communicative leaders, and have the time and willingness to review ABET activities and plans while maintaining strong contact and communications with EAB and the leadership of IEEE. Experience as an IEEE volunteer and/or working with ABET and on ABET programs is welcome.

Nominations (including self-nominations) should be sent to eab-accred@ieee.org by 19 February 2014. Please put "IEEE ABET BoD Rep Nomination" in the subject line. Nominations should be accompanied by a 1-3 page resume of the candidate and a brief summary of no more than one page that highlights the reason(s) for applying and how the candidate’s background and experience qualifies them for the position.  They can be submitted in Word or PDF.

All nominations submitted will receive an acknowledgement of receipt with an explanation of the timetable for the selection process.

Very truly yours,

Jon Rokne
Chair, IEEE ABET Representative Nominating Committee
